Default Web query in Excel

Trying to get a couple of updating columns for upcoming races out of the TAB web page: prices, scr, horse name. I swear I remember being able to do that a few years back.

I would open up my page, and next to my own figures would be the TAB figures telling me if they were scratched, or shortened etc.

I tried it today has the TAB been changed and I could not find table (no arrow to press) - or is my memory playing up and it was to be got from elsewhere?

What are the best sites to go to for this.

Thanks

The VIC & NSW Tab sites changed before Xmas & now run on flash which means web queries are no longer possible & access to what you want has been replaced by an abomination know as 'Rapid Bet Web Services' which only requires a programming background to use...

The Tatts site is still ok (for now)

Oh & apparently the changes were made because thats what punters wanted...

You have to use XML - they have an example on the tatts bet site.

XML or web queries work on Qtab site but not the nsw/vic site.

Try http://www.tabonline.com.au/cgi-bin...page=/today.htm for doing web queries from the Tatts site. It is what I use, is very old but very reliable. I find their xml feed does not always update. Their webpage has been saying since the Tatts update that the xml is "temporary" and the addresses will be updated, just never happens. Shame as their xml used to the best prior to the Tatts page coming along.

Hi Martin,
thanks, I hit a slight snag at first because the web page address on the site remained the same no matter what race I clicked on (http://www.tabonline.com.au/cgi-bin...page=/today.htm) it was the same web address which was no good for a web query. But I wised up and right clicked the particular race icon and copied the address there. Bingo.

You might find this an interesting read, just forget about the NSW/Vic tab portion as that is out dated but the whole concept works on other sites as well.
