Risen From Doubt to peak at Todman Stakes
From Celia Roche: March 2014

Tony McEvoy hopes that his two-year-old colt, Risen From Doubt, will be at his best in April.

The son of Not A Single Doubt impressed racing betting pundits when winning the Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington in October and McEvoy is keen to see how he does in the Todman Stakes.

"The plan is to have him peaking in April and the Todman is probably going to be a better guide about him," he said.

Risen From Doubt easily beat Blue Diamond runner-up Jabali and Boomwaa in the Maribyrnong Trial after earlier impressing when winning two trials in Adelaide.

McEvoy believes the horse is his only juvenile that is currently up to top level, although he has high hopes for Mouro, Big Memory and Le Roi.

"The rest of our two-year-olds will need a little more time, but Le Roi and Big Memory are getting ready for races later on in the autumn, and Mouro will run in Melbourne before coming up for the Doncaster," McEvoy added.

"He had a good finish to the spring, winning the Sale Cup and Eclipse Stakes, and is ready to go to the next level."

Meanwhile, John O'Shea says he will wait until after the Rosehill Guineas on 29th March before deciding where to head to next with Savvy Nature.

The three-year-old has been entered for the Doncaster Mile, Australian Derby, and Queen Elizabeth Stakes as O'Shea weighs up his options. We will get to the Rosehill Guineas then see how it falls," he said.

Savvy Nature won The Vase at Moonee Valley during the Melbourne spring carnival, but missed a place in the Victoria Derby for the first time in his career, much to the disappointment of some racing live betting fans.

Since then, Savvy Nature has run in two barrier trials, while O'Shea has put him through plenty of trackwork in order to keep him in shape.
