Nocturnelle:
Chris Waller's promising 4YO mare carried 60kg. at Rosehill after apprentice Jason Collett's 1.5kg. claim and started as the short priced $2.40 favourite. Jason Collett, who was not the regular jockey, found nothing but trouble. Nocturnelle, began awkwardly and missed the start. Nocturnelle was held up around the home turn, and Jason Collett then made a mistake bynot positioning Nocturnelle to take a developing run between Delzera and Flinders City earlier than he did. To put it simply, Nocturnelle failed to get a run in the straight and finished fifth of nine, beaten by four lengths. Forget the mare ever went around. She has an excellent strike rate of 4 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third from 10 races.

About Square:
This 3YO gelding had two impressive races as a 2YO in New Zealand then was sent for a spell. First up at Caulfield in 3YO Group 3 company it started at $26.00 and finished sixth of 11. However what is significant is that it was only beaten by 1.3 lengths after losing ground by being held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. This gelding could cause a major upset at big odds according to our Melbourne racing video analyst.

Trakstar:
Tony Gollan's lightly raced 3YO gelding, starting at $9.00, ran a nice race over 1400 metres and finished third to Platinum State, beaten in a four way photo by just 0.2 lengths. Trakstar is open to improvement and worth following.
