Make Money Betting Horses

Many astute punters use a simple horse racing betting system to back plenty of winners at excellent odds, as well as successfully betting trifectas, first fours, doubles etc. They simply note the key runs of a few select horses each week and black book them. Then betting smart, they follow them.

Each week we will give some runs worth noting by horses from Saturday's racing. Keep a record of the horses, bet smart and you too could back some big winners.

Here are the latest runners to be added to our Horse Watch list.

Randwick

De Beers:
First up from a spell this John Hawkes' trained 3YO colt impressed. He finished equal second, a neck behind the winner Denmarket, and equal with Stratum, the 2005 Golden Slipper winner.

Primus:
Despite jumping from 3YO restricted company to a 3YO Listed race, this John O'Shea trained colt was simply too good and had a soft win. That was only his third start. Don't let Primus get under your guard. This colt looks extra smart.

Flemington

Lieutenant:
Second up in Listed company, John Hawkes' 4YO gelding caught the eye with a strong second over 1400 metres. A Black-Type winner at Flemington and Moonee Valley in February this year, Lieutenant looks set for another winning campaign.

Calveen:
First up, this 4YO mare put in a storming finish in Group 3 Open company. Calveen went from 15th. at the 400 to finish second, beaten a short head by Wildly. Calveen is a Group 1 winner in New Zealand. She looks set to win in good company here.

Doomben

Manilla Boy:
Second up he was beaten a nose by Mining Silver in 3YO Class 6 company. Manilla Boy has yet to win a race, having been placed five times in Brisbane city races, including Listed company. If ever this 3YO is going to win a race it will be next start.

Lachlan River:
This 4YO gelding won the Group 1 Queensland Derby in June this year. At Doomben he was second up and showed he is going to be a force to be reckoned with this time in. He had a comfortable win in Open company. It is expected that connections will now bring him to Melbourne for the rich races down south.
