15/10/2004 edition

We report on some of the noteworthy runs from Saturday's racing. This column is updated every week. Keep a record of the horses to back some big winners.

Well rated horses

Here are the latest runners to be added to our Horse Watch list.

Caulfield 9/10/2004

Miss Mooney Mooney:
This Tony Wildman trained 3YO filly put in an eye-catching run to finish second to Emlozza in the Group 2 Thoroughbred Stakes. She is ready to win.

Taikun:
Jockey Darren Beadman couldn't believe his bad luck. The 4YO gelding was set to win but was boxed in on the rails unable to get out in the home straight. Taikun was the best of good things beaten in the Schillaci Stakes, a Group 2 Weight for Age race run over 1000 metres.

Chut:
Could this be Lee Freedman's Derby winner? Chut put in a huge run in the Caulfield Guineas after being flattened and finished fourth.

Eagle Farm 9/10/2004

Stakeholder:
In a field of 15 unraced 2YO colts and geldings, Stakeholder was an impressive winner.

Our Sweet Moss:
Ignore the racecaller who told you that the filly didn't come on in the home straight. This classy Gerald Ryan trained filly was brought to Brisbane for an easy kill in this $100,000 fillies and mares quality handicap. The only thing that could have stopped her was bad luck - and she got that in bucketloads. Jockey Shane Scriven was looking everywhere for an opening in the home straight. None came and he ended being shuffled right back through the field.

Cheltenham 9/10/2004

Entangle:
The Morphettville St. Leger winner has come back well. He put in a strong second first up over 1400 metres.Trainer John hawkes could head to Melbourne with this lightly raced 4YO.
