Mr Edison:
Despite winning its previous race at Canterbury, this Bart Cummings trained 6YO gelding started at $19.00. In the straight it was badly held up for a run and finished second, beaten a nose by Hardbreak Hotel. Talk about a bad luck story! That was Mr Edison's fourth run this time in, so it will be at peak fitness next start.

Angel Of Mercy:
Sent out at $21.00, Gerald Ryan's 3YO filly should have probably won the 3YO Fillies $150,000 Group 3 The Vanity. From the 600 metres, Angel Of Mercy hung out and continued to do so rounding the home turn. Despite this, it was only beaten a half length by Shopaholic.

Purettan:
Third up from a spell this 5YO gelding was sent out at $4.60 and primed to win. However it was trapped wide throughout the Doomben 1200 metres. It finished second, beaten a head in class record time by Around The World. Purettan was a good thing beaten and should atone next start.
