Many astute punters use a simple horse racing betting system to back plenty of winners at excellent odds, as well as successfully betting trifectas, first fours, doubles etc. They simply note the key runs of a few select horses each week and black book them. Then betting smart, they follow them.

Each week we will give some runs worth noting by horses from Saturday's racing. Keep a record of the horses, bet smart and you too could back some big winners.

Moonee Valley

The Ruffian:
This Lee Freedman trained 3YO colt resumed from a spell in 3YO Listed company at Moonee Valley and put in a great run. Tenth at the 400, The Ruffian finished second to Anacheeva, beaten by only a head.

Small Minds:
As a 3YO filly, John P Thompson's 4YO mare won the Group 1 Morphettville Oaks in March this year and followed that up by finishing fourth behind Faint Perfume in the Storm Queen Group 1 at Rosehill. First up at Moonee Valley she ran a nice second to Two Hills in a Mares Open.

Warwick Farm

Chance Bye:
Chance Bye won her first three races before being beaten four lengths by Crystal Lily in the 2YO Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes in April this year. Chance Bye was then sent for a spell. Michael Tubman's very smart 3YO filly resumed from a spell with an impressive third to the Peter Snowden trained Parables in the 3YO Fillies Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes.
