Many astute punters use a simple horse racing betting system to back plenty of winners at excellent odds, as well as successfully betting trifectas, first fours, doubles etc. They simply note the key runs of a few select horses each week and black book them. Then betting smart, they follow them.

Fourth up from a spell this Anthony Cummings trained 4YO horse, which started at $21.00, ran an impressive second by a head to Sound Journey in the Group 2 Crystal Mile. On that run this lightly raced 4YO is definitely worth watching.

Above Average:
Lee Freedman's 5YO horse ran a good second in the $250,000 4YO & UP Group 2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup (registered name) over 2500 metres to the "good thing" - Precedence. That was Above Average's fourth run from a spell. While the horse only has two wins from 16 starts, he is fit and in good form so should not be let under your guard.

Parthian:
This Peter Snowden trained 4YO gelding has now won his first two runs back from a spell. He has only been unplaced once and has the excellent strike rate of four wins, six seconds and a third from 12 starts.
