2. In the 1200 metres Group 3 Liverpool City Cup at Warwick Farm. Phoenix Park was sent out the short $4.20 favourite in this open 14 horse race that we thought should be at least $8.00 the field.

It does not require much skill to see a formguide and read that Phoenix Park had won three of four first up starts. Unfortunately, when betting on horses, if you use information that is so obvious noone can miss it you will get poor betting odds.

Phoenix Park also finished last.

3. In the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield over 1600 metres for three year old fillies the Freedman - Oliver combination again proved fatal for punters who took big unders on Moon Dragon.

Moon Dragon's bad luck at her previous start was well documented and at Caulfield she was sent out the short $3.00 favourite (even shorter on the tote).

While there were only 12 runners in the race there were at least six very evenly matched strong winning chances.

Elegant Fashion also had bad luck in the same race as Moon Dragon and also finished a length in front of Moon Dragon in that race. The $9.00 bet on Elegant Fashion was far better value than $3.00 for Moon Dragon.

Elegant Fashion won on Saturday.
