Selective Bets
More Strong Results

We know many punters got wiped out in July where there were some absolutely crazy results. Not us. We went carefully with our bets and were prepared to dismiss entire meetings. Most punters who "had a go" at those meetings lost big time.

Gold Specials - Sydney and Melbourne
Based on TF bookmaker odds there were three bets. At Rosehill, With A Chance, $4.40, a 25 units bet, was an excellent winner giving us 85 units profit. The two bets at Flemington, for a total outlay of 45 units missed out.

We sensibly left the Sunshine Coast meeting alone. The track downgrade from Good to Dead eliminated our one race at Cheltenham.

Gold Specials - Sydney and Melbourne
We left the meeting at the Randwick Kensington track alone. How can you come up with sensible price assessments on a specialists' track like the Randwick Kensington, formerly called the Inner Track, when the majority of horses in each race have not even started there? Based on TF bookmaker odds there were two bets at Flemington for a total outlay of 42 units. Both were disappointing.

Based on TF bookmaker odds there was just one bet for 20 units which was unplaced at Eagle Farm.

Gold Specials - Sydney and Melbourne
While we gave out six possible bets, based on TF bookmaker odds there was just one bet at Moonee Valley. Presenting, 26 units, finished fourth. It was a day which clearly showed the importance of betting selections with minimum odds, not just taking the best odds available about a selection because "it will win." Some of the horses went around at crazily short odds.

Top Rated Specials - Brisbane and Adelaide
Based on TF bookmaker odds there were two bets at Morphettville. Mt Billy, a 40 units bet, won at the excellent value odds of $3.20 for a profit of 88 units on that bet. Our other bet for 17 units was unplaced.

Value Betting System - Melbourne and Sydney

Horses priced by us under $6.00:
There were two bets. Double D'Amour, $4.80, won.Go Cart, $6.00, finished second by a neck.

Horses priced by us at $6.00 to $8.50:
There were five bets. The best result was Keltic Flash, $8.50, finishing second.

Horses priced by us at $9.00 and longer odds:
From the three bets the best result was Faslyma, which started at $41.00 and finished third.

Value Betting System - Brisbane and Adelaide

Horses priced by us under $6.00:
One bet. Birthday Bash, $6.00, ran second.

Horses priced by us at $6.00 to $8.50:
There were four bets based on TF bookmaker odds which missed out. However Cyclone At Sea, $7.00 SP and TF won at Morphettville. We needed $7.50. Tote odds were $9.50 on SuperTab and TAB Ltd. (NSW tote) and $8.60 on UniTab (Qld. tote.)

Horses priced by us at $9.00 and longer odds:
One bet missed out.

Poseidon Selections
There were 22 selections. Odds available about the winners, bookmaker/tote were: $4.20, $3.10, $2.00 and $1.50.

Ratings
We rated 12 races. There were five winners on top and nine winners in the top three. Taking the top two to win with the top five for second and third in a trifecta (outlay $24) snared the $851 SuperTab collect for Morphettville R7. A similar $24 outlay collected the $492 trifecta at Randwick R2. In addition, the $1807 first four was in the top five.

Gold Specials - Sydney and Melbourne
We did the right thing and left the Rosehill meeting on a Heavy track alone. The results there were horrible for most punters. Based on TF bookmaker odds there was just one bet at Caulfield. Gone Critical, 18 units, was unplaced.

Top Rated Specials - Brisbane and Adelaide
We gave out $4.50 minimum odds needed for Our Private Jet, a 22 units bet, in R4 at Eagle Farm. It started favourite and won with SP and TF bookmaker odds both at $4.40. However tote odds on both SuperTab and the NSW tote were $4.70. $4.50 was also being offered by an online bookmaker shortly before the race started. Probably the major problem betting horses that are favourites in Adelaide and Brisbane is the tight official bookmaker markets. Based on TF bookmaker odds there were two bets for an outlay of 34 units. They were both unplaced.

Gold Specials - Sydney and Melbourne
We had two bets. At Warwick Farm, Tor's Dancer, an 18 units bet, was solidly backed from $6.50 to $4.80 and finished second. At Moonee Valley, Riceman, a 27 units bet was disappointing, despite money for it in the betting ring where it firmed from $4.60 to $4.20.

Top Rated Specials - Brisbane and Adelaide
An excellent winning day. Based on TF bookmaker odds there was one bet at Doomben. Naval Seal, a 24 units bet was an excellent winner starting at $6.50. That gave 133 units profit. Best tote was $7.40. At Cheltenham Mt Billy, 31 units, was taken to the lead by apprentice Peter Roff, set a fast clip and not surprisingly weakened. Chevaya, 33 units, with the excellent odds of $5.00 available, was the best of good things beaten. Badly held up in the straight, it got out and hit the lead. But as so often happens in such situations the momentum was with a swooper on the outside which headed it on the line. Our other 33 units bet was disappointing.

Value Betting System - Melbourne and Sydney

Horses priced by us under $6.00:
There were two bets. King Johannes, $6.00 and Go Fuhrever, $7.00, both finished second.

Please note:
We provide guidelines to new members on using our betting information for first fours and trifecta betting.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
