We rated 16 races from Randwick, Flemington and Doomben for 11 Top Four Winners and found some good value.

First fours, trifectas etc.
With the field sizes and the odds it turned out to not be an ideal day for trifectas and first fours. Randwick R5 found a $194.20 trifecta (top 4.)

As there were many horses first up from spells we rated just 10 races from Rosehill, Caulfield and Eagle Farm for 7 Top Four Winners. However all the winners were under $4.00. With short priced winners and placegetters it was not a day for value trifectas and first fours.

With plenty of horses first up from a spell we rated 11 races from Warwick Farm, Moonee Valley and Doomben for 9 Top Four Winners and found some very good value.

With short priced horses placing, collects were small. The top 5 quinella in Warwick Farm R3 paid $41.60.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
