The highlight has to be the win of The Big Steel, $47.50, a Top 2 rated horse as two horses in our Top Four were scratched. We rated 23 races from Rosehill, Caulfield and Doomben for 15 Top Four winners.

Here are Top Four winners with bookmaker or tote odds of $4.00 or better available. If the horse won after R4 we'll indicate with R5+, otherwise the horse won in the first four races of the day:

The Big Steel $47.50 at Caulfield
Sacred Orders $19.20 at Caulfield (R5+)
Altered Boy $11.00 at Rosehill (R5+)
Big Spirit $7.40 at Caulfield
We Betcha $7.00 at Rosehill
Shoot Out $6.50 at Caulfield (R5+)
Anyways $6.10 at Doomben (R5+)
Meet George $6.00 at Doomben (R5+)
Ocean Challenger $5.50 at Caulfield
Flying Minstrel $4.80 at Doomben
Empire Place $4.40 at Rosehill
Supreme De Lago $4.40 at Doomben (R5+)

First Fours and Trifectas:
There were plenty of creative opportunities. At Caulfield R4 with a Top 2 rated horse at $47.50 taking it with the rest of the field in a trifecta involved an outlay $210 with $1 units.
The SuperTab declared trifecta dividend was $70,953.30. So a $21 outlay returned a dividend of $7,095. Of course we know the more money placed on a winning TAB combination the smaller the payout, so we would have made very small outlays on a number of TABs and/or seen which bookies would bet a trifecta with us and pay tote odds.

We rated 16 races from Rosehill and Moonee Valley for 13 Top Four winners. We left alone the Sunshine Coast meeting.

Here are Top Four winners with bookmaker or tote odds of $4.00 or better available. If the horse won after R4 we'll indicate with R5+, otherwise the horse won in the first four races of the day:

Niptious $20.50 at Moonee Valley (R5+)
King Carnage $10.00 at Moonee Valley (R5+)
Rue Maple $5.10 at Moonee Valley
Agister $4.20 at Rosehill
Viking Turf Belle $4.20 at Moonee Valley
Face Off $4.00 at Moonee Valley

First Fours and Trifectas:
With small fields at Rosehill and short priced horses winning most races at Moonee Valley or filling the places like in R6 when we had a $20.50 winner, it was not much of a day for value trifectas and first fours.

Saturday, 10 July, 2010

We rated 19 races from Rosehill, Caulfield and Doomben for just seven Top Four winners on a day where sensible form analysis did not hold up. That's racing.

Tobouggie Woogie $5.10 at Doomben

Please note:
We also provide guidelines to new members on using our betting information for first fours and trifecta betting.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
