Hugs Dancer $42.70

For punters who like the excitement of horse racing that's what Carnival Racing is all about. Being fortunate enough to back a class galloper that wins at huge odds like Hugs Dancer.

Hugs Dancer took just about everyone by surprise when he won the Group 2 Weight for Age Craiglee Stakes over 1600 metres at Flemington last Saturday. He also paid $42.70 on SuperTab for that win. The 8YO gelding certainly had the class. He ran a bold race in last year's Caulfield Cup, beaten less than three lengths. Though he hadn't previously won on a rain affected track. Flemington was Slow on Saturday. Nor had he won under 2400 metres, but now he had an Australian trainer, Tony McEvoy, and was being trained in Australia for Australian racing.

In October last year Unearthly easily won the Group 1 Flight Stakes at Randwick over 1600 metres. At Warwick Farm last Saturday on a Good rated track Unearthly was first up. She won the Group 2 Weight for Age Chelmsford Stakes over 1600 metres. The 4YO mare was specked on track from $31.00 to $21.00. She also had one of the best jockeys in Corey Brown, and a trainer, David Payne, who wins a number of races with horses at long odds resuming from a spell.

Two races later at Warwick Farm and Nips $22.40 SuperTab was second up and won a Group 3 handicap over 1400 metres. In a Listed race over 1200 metres two weeks earlier Nips was only beaten by 1.3 lengths. Nips also dropped two kilos from that run. The 5YO gelding had to be a good chance for punters who look for longshots.
