Betting value at Doomben

Michael Rodd's secret revealed

It was a punter's paradise at Doomben with plenty of value in the open races. There was no better race for value than the Group 1 Doomben Cup. With 20 horses running you could get value about whatever you liked in the race. It's pleasing to report that with value about every runner the TABs, bookies and punters were all winners after the race.

Michael Rodd won well on Bush Padre which started at the excellent odds of $7.00. But will his winning run continue? Jockeys have finally found out the secret to Michael Rodd's stunning run of success. It's rumoured that if a horse does not put in for him he gives the horse a good spanking after the race and the horse gets no oats or carrots that night. Word of horse has apparently been spread around.

Bush Padre thought he was free of Michael Rodd after winning two weeks earlier for him. After Saturday's win even trainer Lee Freedman had to admit that Bush Padre's barrier, 16, was not so bad after all, once Bush Padre knew Michael the Rodd was on him again. The 5YO gelding put in straight after the jump and got a good position in the race. Bush Padre is a big eater and just loves his oats and carrots.

Lee Freedman, who was recently admitted into Racing's Hall of Fame, decided to celebrate that honour and Bush Padre's win of the $500,000 race by donating his trainer's cut of the prizemoney to the Happy Racing tipping team. It's been rumoured that some of them have actually been backing their selections. Lee Freedman also gave Bush Padre a double serve of oats and carrots for dinner.

SuperTab generous despite being wiped out

Place punters betting on the first at Randwick took SuperTab to the cleaners last Saturday. In this five horse field the successful place plunge on the winner, Chainsaw Charlie, meant SuperTab lost so heavily on the race that they had no money left to pay the second place dividend.

A SuperTab executive said, "After a lot of deliberation, we decided to pay a dividend of $1.00 for the second placegetter, Ominous. Place betters of Ominous should be thankful that we were so generous to them. We returned their money for backing a loser."

TAB Ltd. cares for you

Publicly listed company TAB Ltd. has shown that it does care for you. That's why they warn you that your money might not be safe if you bet on overseas internet sites. Of course, your money is perfectly safe if you bet on their internet site.

Not only that, but to prove they have a consistent position, TAB Ltd. finally admitted that because they are giving Racing money to bet on their product then in all fairness they must do the same for all other sports. So TAB Ltd. has decided to give a product fee similar to what it gives to Racing to every other sport it bets on.

You Need Top Odds

It is just about impossible to get a high enough strike rate backing short priced tote favourites and the poor value tote horses to make up for the big unders on the tote.

If you regularly get poor odds you must lose.

Short priced tote favourites
