Bookmaker Betting Odds

Here are some of the percentage markets from last Saturday:

Morphettville:

Group 1 Goodwood Handicap
Starting price: 126%
Top fluctuation: 118%

For a big race those market percentages are very poor. That's not good enough, Adelaide bookies. We heard their Derby Day attendance the week before was a paltry 3,000. Hard to believe. But if correct it is probably a reflection on the service being offered by the bookmakers.

Why should punters pay the expenses and take the time travelling to the Adelaide races, then pay a hefty admission only to realise they'd be better off staying at home or going to their local PubTab when they see tote prices consistently better than what is offered by the Adelaide bookmakers?

Doomben:

Group 1 Weight for Age Doomben 10,000
Starting price: 125%
Top fluctuation: 120%

Again, tight market betting odds for a big race. The Brisbane bookies are becoming as tight as their Adelaide counterparts.

Caulfield:

Mares Open
Starting price: 114%
Top fluctuation: 111%

3YO Fillies Open
Starting price: 118%
Top fluctuation: 106%

As we reported last week the Melbourne bookies are starting to once again offer pretty reasonable betting percentages in many of the Melbourne Saturday races.

Rosehill:

3YO Open
Starting price: 111%
Top fluctuation: 104%

The Sydney bookies continue to offer competitive odds in most races on Saturdays.

Punters should concentrate their betting where the odds are best. That at present is clearly with Sydney and Melbourne bookmakers.
