Ready To Lift
$31.70 Value Winner

Saturday, 5 April, 2008

We rated 26 races. There were six winners on top, eight winners in the top two and 12 winners in the top three. With a number of very large fields, it was not realistic to expect a high strike rate from the top three.

Winners which offered some value, with bookmaker/tote odds available were:

Top rated winners: The highlight was Goin To Jackson, which won at Cheltenham with $11.20 tote odds available. Vandalo, $4.60 at Caulfield and Nellie Got There, $4.30 at Eagle Farm also offered some value.

Second rated winner, Nuclear Sky, $12.00, was a standout bet at Canterbury. Our top rated horse in the race, Musket, at odds on was absolutely no value and our guidelines made it clear it should not have been backed. We are not interested in taking those short odds about top selections.

Fourth rated winner, Rich Success, $26.00, was also great value in a field of just 11 horses at Caulfield.

There was also a box four first four at Cheltenham R4 which paid $448.40 on SuperTab.

We rated 28 races. There were six winners on top, eight winners in the top two and 17 winners in the top four. Again, with a number of very large and open fields, it was tough racing for punters.

Winners which offered some value, with bookmaker/tote odds available were:

Top rated winners: Soaressa, $7.70 at Morphettville, Rich Success, $5.20, at Moonee Valley and Sir Xaar, $4.60 at Doomben offered some value.

Second rated winners: Dealer Prinicipal, $12.00, was great value in the Rosehill Guineas and Nericon King, $8.20, was value at Doomben.

From our third and fourth rated horses there were some fantastic winners for value punters: The highlight was Ready To Lift, $31.70 winning at Rosehill. Horses at those odds in the top four will always be fantastic value. Babinda Half, $13.90 and Tellasecret, $12.00 both at Doomben and Red Element, $10.00 at Moonee Valley offered some value. All were in fields of just 12 horses after scratchings.

We rated 30 races on what looked like being a very tough day with big, open fields at Eagle Farm and the Rosehill Golden Slipper meeting and also a seriously rain affected track at Rosehill.

There were seven winners on top, 10 winners in the top two and 17 winners in the top four (16 in the top three.)

Winners which offered some value, with bookmaker/tote odds available were:

Top rated winners: Joyeuse, $5.00 and First Militia, $4.80, both at Caulfield.

Second rated winners: Sebring, $7.00, was good value winning the Golden Slipper at Rosehill, as was Danish Puss, $8.90 at Cheltenham in a field of only 10 horses.

Third and fourth rated winners: Third rated Nuclear Medicine, $13.60, was a good winner at Eagle Farm. Nuclear Sky, $13.00, offered some value at Rosehill.

The SuperTab $2,889.60 first four was found at Caulfield R3, with our top selection winning and the other three placegetters were in the next five rated horses.

Please note:
We also provide guidelines to new members on using our betting information for first fours and trifecta betting.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
