At Eagle Farm Rasmussen, 18 units, was a close second at $8.00. As is so often the case small margins are the difference between winning and losing. Spy Zaim, 24 units, finished 4th. at $5.00. Scenic Silver, 17 units, $15.00 and Jazzella, 17 units, $9.50 were both unplaced.

Three bets. Easy Step, which won at Rosehill starting at $10.00 (best tote $12.10) was a great winning bet for us. This horse was assessed at just $5.00. The two other Silver Special bets were Rumbird, 2nd. $6.00 at Rosehill and Bird Dancer, 3rd. $6.50 at Sandown.

The winning days continued. There were 22 selections for six winners, the biggest collect being Diamond Cove, $15.80 best tote at Sandown. Odds of the other winners with best of bookmaker/tote were: $8.00, $7.50, $5.70 $4.60 and $3.80.

Ratings
From ten races there were two winners on top and five winners in the top three. The first four in Sandown R5 which paid up to $834.00 was in the top five.

We had a scheduled public holiday weekend break. Just as well. There were many horrible results and we saved money.

Not much action with Rosehill abandoned because of the state of the track. We left the weak Morphettville meeting alone, as well as the main Queensland Saturday meeting which was held at Ipswich instead of being held at one of the usual Saturday tracks.

At Sandown Sahifa, 23 units, $5.00 and Sovereign Miss, 22 units, $4.80 were both unplaced.

Top Rated Specials - Brisbane and Adelaide
Both meetings left alone.

Gold Specials - Sydney and Melbourne
Again luck in running and luck in close finishes can make the difference between losing and winning. At Randwick Winning Spur, 21 units, $7.00 finished second by a head. At Moonee Valley, Lord Braemar, 20 units, was unplaced at the surprisingly generous odds of $15.00. It too would have been right in the thick of things with normal luck in running.

At Eagle Farm Sectagonal, 12 units, $14.00 ran second and Easy Rocker, 20 units, $6.00, was unplaced.

For punters last Saturday was one of the worst days in months. Some of the results had to be seen and then they could still not be believed such as Then Again, $71.00, winning R2 at Randwick and Heavenly Pun, $35.40, winning R3 at Sandown. Its best result and also its closest finish from its previous five starts was a ninth, beaten seven lengths.

At the Randwick Kensington track Keen Commander, 25 units, $5.00 finished second by a neck and Winning Spur, 31 units, $3.30, also finished second. At Sandown Reliability, 18 units, $7.00, finished third.

Top Rated Specials - Brisbane and Adelaide
We left alone the meeting at the Sunshine Coast. At Cheltenham Keltah, 20 units, $5.00 finished second, beaten by a nose. When luck is not going your way that's what happens.

Please note:
We provide guidelines to new members on using our betting information for first fours and trifecta betting.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
