At Carnival time there are often big fields and bunched finishes. Horses finishing unplaced will often get up at good odds next start. This is a very simple horse racing selection method of finding horses at big odds that could be ready to win.

Here are the rules:

1. The horse must have finished sixth or worse at its last start in its current campaign in a Black-Type race (eg. a Listed race, Group race, Weight for Age race, 3YO set weights quality race.)

2. The horse must have finished no more than 2.5 lengths from the winner.

3. The horse has a significant jockey change for the better at its next start. Look for the jockey being replaced by one of the leading jockeys from the state or interstate.
